A couple of uncertain clearances slightly undermined an otherwise solid night between the posts.

Jeremie Frimpong – 8

Provided two assists and won a key header to help create another goal. His attacking runs and final balls were the standout features of his performance.

Ronald Araujo – 7

Scored his first Liverpool goal with a powerful header from a set-piece. He was solid defensively before being substituted after an hour of high-intensity play.

Jeremy Jacquet – 7

Looked composed while filling in at centre-back alongside Araujo. The defence became noticeably more vulnerable once he left the pitch.

Kostas Tsimikas – 8

Delivered two assists and handled his defensive duties well while wearing the armband. It was one of his more complete performances in a Liverpool shirt.

Trey Nyoni – 8

Controlled the tempo from deep and broke lines with accurate forward passes. He also contributed defensively when required in a mature display.

Ryan Gravenberch – 7

Drove forward effectively and linked play well throughout the contest. He did not quite reach the levels of his recent Man City performance but remained influential.

Florian Wirtz – 7

Produced a precise through ball to set up Barcola’s second goal early on. His influence diminished after the break as the game became more open.

Caused constant problems with his dribbling and direct runs down the right. He created one of the early goals and remained a threat until he tired.

Lewis Koumas – 7

Scored his first Liverpool goal in over two years after earlier efforts were ruled offside. He worked hard off the ball and also contributed an assist.

Bradley Barcola – 9

Scored a hat-trick with three well-taken finishes and was Liverpool’s most dangerous player throughout. His movement and finishing finally gave supporters the performance they had been waiting for. Substitutes

Substitutes

Virgil van Dijk – 3

Struggled to adjust to the pace after coming on and was caught out for one of the goals. His late distribution also put the defence under unnecessary pressure.

Joe Gomez – 3

Looked uncomfortable as part of a defence that conceded three times after the hour. He offered little control or organisation once introduced.

Victor Munoz – 5

Provided some width and forward runs after his introduction but failed to create clear chances. His cameo was energetic yet ultimately limited in impact.

Alisson Becker – 5 Made one notable near-post save but was otherwise quiet.
