Jurgen Klopp Introduces Four Strict Rules Ahead of First Germany Match

Jurgen Klopp has wasted no time making changes since taking charge of the Germany national team, introducing four new rules for his players ahead of his first match.

The former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager succeeded Julian Nagelsmann and has agreed a contract that runs until 2030. His first game will come against the Netherlands, managed by Xavi Hernandez, in an intriguing Nations League fixture.

According to BILD, Klopp has already established a number of strict regulations designed to improve discipline, focus and team unity.

One of the most unusual rules is a ban on haircuts at the national team’s training base. Players must arrange any barber appointments before joining up with Germany, with no barbers permitted to visit the team hotel.

Klopp has also reportedly banned players from using their phones before matches. In addition, the squad is expected to arrive together and on time for organised team dinners.

The German boss is also looking to strengthen the bond within the squad. Unlike Nagelsmann’s more relaxed approach, Klopp is reportedly planning to limit family visits during major tournaments so the players can spend more time together as a group.

It remains unclear what punishments could be handed out if players break the new rules, but the changes indicate that Klopp intends to significantly reshape the culture around the Germany national team.

Klopp Makes Major Changes to Germany Squad

Klopp has also taken an unconventional approach to his first squad, naming 44 players for the upcoming run of international fixtures.

Among them are 16 uncapped players, including Eintracht Frankfurt forward Younes Ebnoutalib, who reportedly chose Germany over Morocco partly because of Klopp’s influence.

Four players from Freiburg, last season’s Europa League finalists, have also received call-ups.

Explaining his decision, Klopp said he wants to assess as many players as possible and stressed that there would be no fixed “A” or “B” team. Instead, selections will be based on tactical suitability, character and experience.
