Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has praised his team’s intensity after the Reds secured a convincing 2-0 Premier League win over Brighton at Anfield.

Liverpool took the lead when Brighton’s Pascal Gross accidentally turned the ball into his own net, before Isak struck just three minutes later to double the advantage.

Speaking after the match, Isak described the performance as excellent against a strong Brighton side. He highlighted Liverpool’s pressing, winning duels and high intensity, particularly during the first half, as key elements of their approach.

The defeat was a significant setback for Brighton, who had failed to score for the first time in the league this season. The Seagulls also conceded their first goals in all competitions in more than nine hours.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler admitted his side would feel disappointed, believing the game could have gone differently if they had taken their chances.

He pointed out that Brighton created opportunities before Liverpool scored but lacked the finishing quality needed to make them count. He also praised Liverpool’s defensive work, particularly their centre-backs, for blocking shots and protecting the penalty area.

Despite the defeat, Hurzeler felt Brighton showed positive signs by sticking to their game plan and continuing to believe in their approach.

Liverpool’s victory lifted them to fourth place in the Premier League, while Brighton were left wondering what might have been.
