Liverpool are reportedly facing fresh competition for Manchester City playmaker Rayan Cherki, with Paris Saint-Germain now showing strong interest in the Frenchman.

Cherki has quickly established himself as an important player for City since joining from Lyon. During his first season in Manchester, the 23-year-old recorded 25 goal contributions, and he has already added six more in eight appearances this season. His performances have naturally attracted attention from several major European clubs.

Liverpool are understood to have been monitoring Cherki, but PSG have now emerged as serious rivals. According to the report, the French champions are particularly interested in his technical ability and attacking creativity. His French nationality is also viewed as a positive factor for PSG as they look to strengthen their squad with top French talent.

Manchester City situation

City are under no immediate pressure to sell Cherki because his current contract runs until 2030. However, the situation could change depending on the outcome of the club’s ongoing financial case and any potential sporting punishment.

A serious sanction could potentially force City to reconsider their transfer strategy, which could give clubs such as Liverpool and PSG an opportunity to pursue Cherki.

Liverpool, however, would not be alone in the race. Chelsea and Real Madrid have also reportedly been monitoring the former Lyon star. The growing competition could make any potential transfer significantly more expensive. City originally paid €42.5 million to sign Cherki and would now likely demand considerably more.

For now, there is no indication that Cherki is actively pushing to leave Manchester City. His future could largely depend on the eventual outcome of City’s financial case and whether the club receives any significant punishment.

In short: Liverpool remain interested in Cherki, but PSG have now entered the race strongly, while Chelsea and Real Madrid are also keeping an eye on the situation.
