Manchester City have been warned not to underestimate Paris Saint-Germain ahead of their Champions League clash on October 14, despite the French champions sitting sixth in Ligue 1.

Luis Enrique’s side have collected just eight points from five league matches, recording two wins, two draws and one defeat. However, PSG had the same points tally after five games during the 2023-24 season before recovering to win the French title.

Following a 3-2 defeat to Nice that season, PSG embarked on an impressive 26-match unbeaten league run, eventually finishing as champions. They have also started this season’s Champions League campaign strongly, thrashing Slovan Bratislava 6-1.

Nevertheless, this season’s PSG side faces different challenges after significant changes to their attacking options. Several players have departed, while new arrivals, including Ferran Torres and Maghnes Akliouche, are still adapting to Enrique’s system.

Although their domestic struggles raise questions, PSG remain dangerous, boasting quality players such as Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Manchester City will therefore face a team looking to regain its domestic form but capable of delivering on the European stage.

PSG’s previous recovery under Enrique serves as a clear warning that their disappointing league position should not be taken at face value.
