Manchester City have suffered a potential injury setback ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield, with Nico O’Reilly missing Friday’s training session.

The England international was reportedly working in the gym as he continues recovering from an injury sustained during England’s 3-2 defeat to Spain last month. His availability remains uncertain, leaving Enzo Maresca with a potential selection dilemma.

However, City received a major boost as Erling Haaland has been declared fit for the Liverpool encounter. The Norwegian striker was substituted during Norway’s defeat to Portugal as a precaution, but Maresca confirmed he is ready to play.

City head into the showdown after winning their opening five Premier League matches, while Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola must manage his side’s injury problems ahead of a crucial test.

The match also comes amid controversy surrounding City’s financial charges verdict. The club denies wrongdoing and has appealed the decision.

O’Reilly’s fitness could prove significant as both sides prepare for a highly anticipated encounter at Anfield.
