Former Liverpool and England striker Andy Carroll has sparked controversy ahead of his autobiography Owning It, claiming Wayne Rooney invited players to drink in his hotel room during England camps in 2010–11.
Rooney has reportedly responded through his lawyers, demanding a retraction and threatening legal action, insisting Carroll’s claims are false.
Carroll is now said to be facing pressure over the disputed allegations before the book’s release.
