Nico Williams’ agent, Félix Tainta, has confirmed that Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSG were among the clubs interested in signing the Athletic Bilbao winger in 2024 and 2025.
Williams attracted significant attention after impressive performances for Bilbao and Spain, but surprised many by signing a new contract with his boyhood club.
Speaking to Los Fulanos via Marca, Tainta explained that Williams considered leaving but was concerned about guarantees over regular playing time, especially with the World Cup approaching.
He described Williams as an ambitious player who wanted to compete for major trophies but ultimately decided to stay after discussing his future.
Tainta said he would always prioritise his client’s interests, adding that the decision to renew came after they concluded that a transfer was not the right move at the time.
