Mateo Kovacic may not be a regular starter for Manchester City, but his experience and quality make him an important squad member.
The Croatian midfielder impressed in City’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town, controlling the midfield and assisting Erling Haaland’s opening goal with an excellent run and cross.
Playing alongside young midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi allowed Kovacic to operate in his preferred No. 8 role, where his forward runs and passing were particularly effective.
Unfortunately, Kovacic suffered an injury and was substituted in the 50th minute. If the injury isn’t serious, he could prove crucial for Enzo Maresca as City navigate a busy fixture schedule.
