Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Brighton at Anfield on Sunday could face uncertainty as Storm Boelo threatens to bring dangerous weather conditions across Merseyside.
The UK has already experienced severe weather in recent days, with Storm Austen reportedly leaving more than 12,000 homes without electricity. Now, another powerful storm could bring heavy rain and strong winds over the weekend.
🌪️ MET OFFICE WARNS OF DANGEROUS CONDITIONS
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Liverpool, which remains in effect until 9pm on Sunday. Storm Boelo is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rainfall, potentially disrupting travel and everyday activities across parts of northern England.
Wind gusts of around 55–65 mph are considered likely, while exposed and coastal areas could experience speeds of 70–80 mph or even higher.
Authorities have warned that fallen debris could block roads, public transport services could face disruption or cancellations, and some areas could experience power cuts.
⚠️ COULD LIVERPOOL’S MATCH BE POSTPONED?
With dangerous weather conditions expected, concerns are growing over whether Liverpool’s showdown with Brighton will go ahead as scheduled.
Public safety will be the priority when the authorities assess the situation. If conditions become too dangerous, postponing the match could be necessary.
However, any decision should be announced early enough to prevent travelling Brighton supporters from making the lengthy journey to Merseyside unnecessarily.
Liverpool fans will remember the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, which was postponed only hours before kick-off because of Storm Darragh.
The Reds will be hoping history does not repeat itself this weekend.
📅 A POSTPONEMENT COULD CREATE MORE FIXTURE PRESSURE
Liverpool are already facing a demanding schedule, and finding another date for the Brighton fixture could make things even more complicated if the team progresses deep into multiple cup competitions.
For now, supporters will be hoping the weather improves and Sunday’s match takes place as planned.
Nevertheless, Storm Boelo’s impact remains uncertain, and the safety of players, supporters and the general public must come before football.
