Spotted: Henderson raises his hand for Fofana’s handball – Liverpool instincts kicked in?

HENDERSON… have you forgotten where you are?! 😱

That hand gesture during Liverpool’s match needs a second look 😳👇

Around the equaliser, Wesley Fofana handled the ball in a chaotic episode inside Chelsea’s box. Virgil van Dijk, who was battling with the Chelsea defender, reacted immediately, raising his hand to appeal to the referee.

But he wasn’t the only one.

Henderson, now wearing Chelsea blue, also raised his hand to signal the handball. The former Liverpool captain appeared to react just as quickly as the Reds’ players, seemingly forgetting for a split second which side he was supposed to be helping.

Of course, Henderson might have simply raised his hand in a knee-jerk reaction after seeing Van Dijk do the same, but let’s pretend he actually forgot which team he was playing for for a second.

The timing made the moment even funnier. There was no VAR in use for the tie, meaning the referee had to make the decision on the pitch. While Van Dijk made sure the official noticed the incident, Henderson was doing much the same despite being a Chelsea player.

The other Chelsea players didn’t appear to join in with the same appeal, making Henderson’s reaction stand out even more.

And Liverpool made the opportunity count, with Cody Gakpo scoring the equaliser after the handball incident.

Perhaps Henderson’s years at Anfield have left him with some old habits. Whatever the explanation, seeing a Chelsea player seemingly help Liverpool appeal against his own team was an unexpected twist.
