Carlos Mac Allister has called on Liverpool to offer his son Alexis a new contract before the end of the season.
Alexis’ father, who also represents the midfielder, told ESPN Argentina, via TNT Sports, that his son could consider other options next summer if Liverpool do not open talks over a renewal.
“I believe he has shown that he deserves a new contract. If it cannot happen at Liverpool, then it could happen somewhere else, because there will certainly be interest in him.
However, clubs have their own philosophies, ideas and decisions,” Carlos said.
Despite his comments over the contract situation, Carlos stressed that Alexis will remain fully committed to Liverpool and will continue giving everything for the club regardless of what happens off the pitch.
The Argentine midfielder joined Liverpool from Brighton for £35m in 2023 and signed a five-year contract, meaning he will have just one year remaining on his deal at the end of this season.
Unlike Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch, Mac Allister has yet to receive an extension, with his inconsistent form during the 2025/26 campaign reportedly contributing to Liverpool’s decision to delay negotiations.
Mac Allister had previously expressed his frustration that the club had not yet opened talks over a new deal.
However, his impressive start to the 2026/27 season could lead Liverpool to reconsider the situation.
New sporting director Julian Ward may still choose to wait and assess the midfielder’s performances over a longer period before making a decision on his future.
