Thierry Henry has urged Liverpool fans to be patient with Bradley Barcola, warning that the £106m signing could take time to fully settle at Anfield.
Barcola, 23, is adapting to the Premier League, a new tactical system under Andoni Iraola and the pressure of a potential £123m price tag after leaving PSG.
However, his slow start does not mean he is a bad signing. His pace, ability to beat defenders and versatility remain obvious, while his fitness and understanding with Liverpool’s attack should improve with time.
Henry’s comments make sense given his own experience moving from France to England. Barcola cannot control his transfer fee, and Liverpool must give him time to adapt.
Iraola also needs to find the right role for him alongside Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Victor Muñoz.
Liverpool have already seen flashes of Barcola’s quality, and there is no reason to panic after only a handful of appearances. Give him time, fitness and regular minutes—and he could eventually show exactly why Liverpool paid so much for him.
