Jurgen Klopp has praised Florian Wirtz after the Liverpool star inspired Germany to a 2-0 win over Serbia, scoring one goal and playing a key role in the opener.

Klopp, who claimed his first victory as Germany manager, was delighted with Wirtz’s display and believes Liverpool fans will be pleased with his performance.

“The way we want to play fits Flo Wirtz,” Klopp told reporters after the game.

“I believe that everyone in Liverpool is very happy today. The boy is bursting with joy for the game and has worked his butt off.”

Wirtz’s impressive showing comes after a difficult start to the season at Anfield and could provide a timely confidence boost ahead of Liverpool’s huge clash with Manchester City on October 11.

The 23-year-old will now hope to carry his Germany form back to Liverpool and silence some of the recent criticism surrounding his performances.
