Liverpool could reunite Antoine Semenyo with Iraola after new Manchester City development

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Manchester City duo Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo, with the Reds potentially ready to make a move if City are forced to sell players.

According to a reliable source on X, Liverpool could consider pursuing the two attackers depending on the outcome of the ongoing situation surrounding Manchester City and the Premier League’s alleged 114 charges against the club.

Would Liverpool really need Doku or Semenyo?

There is no doubt that both players are talented, but Doku may not be an obvious fit for Liverpool given the number of left-sided wingers already available to the club.

Liverpool currently have several options who naturally operate from the left, including Bradley Barcola, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz.

Doku has also played regularly on the right during his career, but his preferred position remains the left wing.

Semenyo, meanwhile, could be a more interesting option for Liverpool.

The Ghanaian winger had previously been on Liverpool’s radar before eventually moving from Bournemouth to Manchester City. The Reds were keen on him during Arne Slot’s time in charge, but ultimately missed out on the forward.

Could Iraola reunion help Liverpool?

Semenyo already has a strong connection with Andoni Iraola, having worked with the current Liverpool boss during their time together at Bournemouth.

If Semenyo were to become available, that previous relationship could potentially make a move to Anfield an attractive option for the player.

However, there is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding Manchester City’s situation. The Premier League has yet to officially announce a verdict regarding the alleged charges, while City would also have the opportunity to appeal any eventual decision.

That means the timing and nature of any potential punishment remain unclear.

For now, talk of Liverpool potentially taking advantage of a Manchester City fire sale remains speculative. A lot would still need to happen before Semenyo or Doku could realistically become available.
