The French Football Federation (FFF) has confirmed that Liverpool defender Jérémy Jacquet is suffering from a strain to his left hamstring, according to Get French Football News.

The 21-year-old was consequently ruled out of France’s Nations League clash with Belgium on Monday.

Jacquet had started France’s previous two matches against Belgium and Italy, earning his first senior caps under Zinedine Zidane.

The defender is expected to return to Liverpool’s training ground for further tests, although no recovery timeframe has been provided.

Jacquet has started six of his seven appearances for Liverpool this season, establishing himself as an important part of Andoni Iraola’s defence.

He previously missed the second half of last season with a shoulder injury before a knee problem disrupted his preparations for the current campaign.
