Liverpool have reportedly suffered a setback in their pursuit of Michael Olise, with Bayern Munich increasingly confident of keeping the French forward by offering him a lucrative new contract.
According to TeamTalk, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City remain interested in the former Crystal Palace star, but Olise has little desire to return to the Premier League.
Bayern are reportedly prepared to offer him a deal approaching Harry Kane’s reported €500,000-per-week package. Olise has impressed since joining the German giants, recording 50 goals and 58 assists in 114 appearances.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are believed to pose the biggest threat to Bayern’s hopes of retaining him, with both Spanish clubs reportedly ready to consider a move if the opportunity arises.
For Liverpool, the report suggests there is little encouragement at present, making a transfer increasingly unlikely. Bayern are pushing to secure his long-term future, while Paris Saint-Germain are not currently considering a move.
Unless Olise changes his stance, Liverpool may need to focus on alternative attacking targets under Andoni Iraola.
