Two Bayern stars Liverpool could target in any potential Florian Wirtz swap deal

Florian Wirtz’s difficult start to life at Liverpool has continued, with the £116m signing yet to consistently deliver since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen.

The German midfielder managed just five Premier League goals and four assists last season, while he has only one assist so far this campaign. His struggles have become more noticeable as Liverpool have struggled creatively under Andoni Iraola.

Despite his form, Bayern Munich remain admirers. German reporter Christian Falk says the Bundesliga champions would be Wirtz’s first option should he ever consider returning to Germany.

A potential future deal could even involve a player-plus-cash offer, with Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies among the names who could reportedly be used as makeweights.

Kane, now 33 and approaching the final year of his Bayern contract, could offer Liverpool an elite striker while reducing the cash element of a Wirtz deal. Davies, meanwhile, could provide an alternative at left-back, although his injury record remains a concern.

For now, Liverpool are unlikely to give up on Wirtz so soon after their record investment, but continued struggles could eventually raise serious questions over his future at Anfield.
