“Not feeling okay” – Iraola has now added to Liverpool’s misery with big injury update

Liverpool are reeling after their 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield, with head coach Andoni Iraola delivering a worrying injury update.

Ryan Gravenberch’s controversial red card contributed to Liverpool’s disappointing performance, as City took full advantage of their numerical superiority.

After the match, Iraola criticised the referee’s decision to send Gravenberch off, arguing that the midfielder’s first booking was undeserved.

The Liverpool boss also admitted that Dominik Szoboszlai and other injured players could struggle to return in time for the club’s upcoming fixtures.

Iraola revealed that Szoboszlai returned from international duty suffering from fatigue and muscle overload. Although the problem is minor, Liverpool’s demanding schedule makes his recovery difficult.

The Reds face LASK in the Champions League on Wednesday before travelling to Brentford next Saturday, followed by matches against Villarreal, Brighton and Chelsea.

Szoboszlai and Alexander Isak’s absences will be significant, particularly with Gravenberch suspended for the Brentford clash. Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola will need to step up as Liverpool navigate a challenging period.

With squad depth already a concern, the coming weeks could prove crucial to Liverpool’s season.
