Enzo Maresca has insisted he would rather win 1-0 than 5-3 as Manchester City prepare to host Ipswich Town on Saturday, following their 4-2 Champions League defeat to PSG.
The City boss stressed the need to improve defensively, admitting that scoring goals must not come at the expense of defensive stability.
City have won their opening six league games under Maresca, and victory over Ipswich would make him the first manager to win his first seven Premier League matches in charge of a club.
However, the Italian played down the potential record, insisting his priority is securing three points and managing players’ minutes amid a busy fixture schedule.
