Enzo Maresca has backed Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marc Guehi after costly mistakes contributed to Manchester City’s defeat to Aston Villa.
Despite the criticism, Maresca praised both players’ character and resilience, insisting mistakes are part of a demanding season.
The City boss also gave five key players, including Donnarumma and Guehi, three days off to recharge ahead of a busy schedule.
Donnarumma will be rested for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Brighton, with Geronimo Rulli set to start.
