Manchester City have received a double injury boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool, with Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo returning to first-team training.
Haaland was substituted during Norway’s defeat to Portugal, but the decision was reportedly due to fatigue rather than an injury. Meanwhile, Semenyo has returned after withdrawing from Ghana’s squad because of a swollen leg.
Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku explained that the decision was made to prioritise Semenyo’s recovery and give him the best chance of returning to action.
Semenyo has made an impressive start at City, recording two goals and three assists in seven appearances across all competitions.
However, City will be without Phil Foden, who is serving the final game of his three-match suspension. Nico O’Reilly is also a doubt after withdrawing from England duty with an injury.
Haaland and Semenyo’s potential availability is a major boost for City as they prepare to face Liverpool at Anfield in a crucial early-season Premier League showdown.
