Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has praised Ronald Araújo for bringing defensive stability to the team despite playing out of his natural centre-back position.
“He has given us solidity,” Iraola said, admitting that the Uruguayan is doing an excellent job at right-back.
Araújo has helped Liverpool record three consecutive Premier League clean sheets alongside Jérémy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez.
Iraola also praised his versatility and attitude, saying: “He gives us more options – playing as a RB, CB, playing wherever the team needs. He is having the right attitude and I love these kind of players.”
With Conor Bradley unavailable and Jeremie Frimpong yet to fully convince defensively, Araújo has given Liverpool a reliable alternative at right-back.
However, Bradley’s return and Frimpong’s attacking qualities could create a selection dilemma for Iraola.
For now, Araújo’s defensive performances and willingness to put the team first have made him an increasingly valuable player at Anfield.
