Andy Burnham has promised to publish details of all his dealings with Manchester City during his time as Greater Manchester Mayor, following calls for transparency over the club’s financial-rule breaches.
Burnham defended City’s investment in Manchester, describing the club as a major partner in the city’s development, while insisting football must uphold integrity and ensure the rules apply equally to everyone.
He confirmed he would release details of his meetings with City officials, revealing that he had only one significant meeting with them in 2021.
Manchester City are appealing the independent commission’s findings, maintaining that the verdict contains serious errors and insisting the club is innocent.
