A police officer suffered a serious facial injury while arresting a man following Liverpool’s heated clash with Manchester City on Sunday.
Ten people were arrested during an extensive policing operation at Anfield, with offences including assaulting a police officer, tragedy chanting, affray, drunken disorderly behaviour and throwing objects onto the pitch.
The officer was injured around 6:35 pm as fans left the stadium and was taken to hospital before returning home to recover.
Police are appealing for witnesses and reviewing CCTV and mobile phone footage as investigations continue.
Five men were arrested on suspicion of tragedy chanting, an offence in England and Wales for the past three years.
