Gary Neville has admitted he wants to be removed from covering Manchester City matches for the next few months because of the ongoing controversy surrounding the club’s financial breaches.
Speaking after City’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, the Sky Sports pundit said the pending appeal and potential sanctions made it difficult to focus solely on football.
Neville stressed that City’s players, staff and supporters should not be blamed for the allegations against the club’s hierarchy, despite the reputational damage surrounding the case.
Manchester City have appealed the guilty verdict, with a final resolution and possible sanctions expected early next year.
