Liverpool legend John Aldridge has praised Lewis Koumas following the Reds’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, predicting a bright future for the young striker at Anfield.
The 21-year-old made his first Premier League start due to injuries to Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo. Although he missed a one-on-one chance against Gianluigi Donnarumma, Koumas impressed with his relentless pressing, work rate and determination.
Aldridge believes Koumas has the ability and mentality to enjoy a long career at Liverpool, describing him as a raw talent with the heart and spirit of a true Kopite.
Despite the missed opportunity, Koumas made life difficult for City’s defence and showed encouraging signs at senior level.
While competing for a regular starting place will be challenging, his performance was a positive for Liverpool amid a disappointing afternoon.
